Steven Hill
Steven Hill is a Technology Editor for Network Computing Magazine, and has previously held positions as a department manager and Imaging Systems Administrator for a Fortune 500 corporation based in the Midwest. Since 2003 he has been an independent consultant and Contributing Editor for Network Computing Magazine, and has over 30 years experience working with photographic and digital imaging technologies.



Art Wittmann
Art Wittmann is the former Editor-in-Chief of IT Architect (formerly Network Magazine). Prior to taking the EIC post at IT Architect, he was a freelance writer specializing in technology assessment and vendor viability analysis for the Enterprise IT marketplace. Wittmann was Editor of Network Computing from 1996 through 1999. Network Computing is the leading bi-weekly magazine for computing in a networked environment.

Wittmann was responsible for day-to-day management of Network Computing, and authored the critically acclaimed "On The Edge" column on leading edge technology issues. His areas of specialty include high performance computing, wireless, network system design and management, internetworking, and business issues. He joined Network Computing in 1991.

Before coming to CMP Media full time in 1996, Wittmann was the associate director of the Computer-Aided Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He started his time at the University of Wisconsin as the College of Engineering's first network systems administrator in 1984. He was responsible for design and implementation of networks serving the research, administration, and instructional needs of the College. As associate director, he was responsible for planning and implementing all information and networking systems on the UW College of Engineering Campus.

Wittmann holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and M.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

Domenic Alcaro
Director – Enterprise Segment Northeast

Domenic Alcaro is the director of APC’s Enterprise Segment in the Northeast region. Alcaro has held various roles in sales and technical positions during his more than ten years at APC. He is currently responsible for helping large corporations improve their enterprise IT infrastructure availability.  He is a frequent speaker at various industry conferences on topics such as business continuity, physical infrastructure of information technology, and data center design.

Prior to joining APC, Alcaro was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy and served more than six years in the submarine community.  During that time he was certified to serve as chief engineer of any U.S. nuclear-powered submarine and was also selected as the Navy’s Instructor of the Year, worldwide.

Alcaro holds a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in electrical engineering from the University of Rochester and is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

Michael Hall

Since joining APC in 1994, Mr. Hall has held positions in distribution sales management, reseller channel/territory management and enterprise account sales.  Since 2003, Mr. Hall has been the Regional Manager responsible for mid-market sales and channel development for the thirteen western states.  He has over 10 years of hands-on experience assisting large and small corporations improve their enterprise IT infrastructure availability.   Mr. Hall has been a key contributor to various industry conferences related to business continuity, physical infrastructure of Information Technology, and Data Center design. 

Mr. Hall holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Brown University and a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering and an MBA from the University of California, Davis.

David Felice is the regional manager of APC-MGE's Mid Market and Enterprise segments in the Midwest.  Since joining APC in 1991, he has held a number of positions at APC working with various customer segments and markets.  He has more than 15 years experience helping large and small corporations improve their enterprise IT infrastructure availability. Felice has been a key contributor at multiple events related to physical infrastructure of information technology, and data center design.

Felice holds a bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, and currently resides in the Chicago area.

Andy Jimenez

Anixter, Inc.

Andy has over 17 years experience in the fields of telecommunications testing and product certification.  He has held various engineering and management positions with test laboratories specializing in the certification of both voice/data systems and component level testing and was in charge of the launch of Underwriters Laboratories'(UL) Category 5 connecting hardware verification program while an engineer at UL.  Currently, his primary responsibilities include the management of the day-to-day operations of Anixter's Infrastructure Solutions Lab, standards development, and product research.

Andy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Chicago and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Management from Northwestern University. He is an active voting member of the Telecommunication Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 cabling and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.3 LAN/MAN standards committees.  Andy is also a Cisco Certified CCNA with Wireless Specialization. He has given numerous technical presentations at trade shows, and is a regular speaker at Anixter's National Seminar Series.

Luc Adriaenssens

Luc Adriaenssens is Senior Vice President, R&D and Technology. As head of CommScope Labs responsible for R&D and Technology for the enterprise market place, he has responsibility for driving the research and development behind the award winning copper, fiber and associated software solutions including GigaSPEED®, LazrSPEED®, TeraSPEED™, and iPatch®. During his 19 years in the business, he has held positions in product management and positions of increasing responsibility in R&D.

Luc joined Bell Labs in 1986 as a cable designer. He has been involved with high performance cable design, LAN and cabling standards, cabling system applications, EMC testing, and product management. He is an expert on cabling performance issues. Luc is the author of the performance specifications that became the initial Category 5 cable requirements and was instrumental in shaping the category 6 and Category 6A cabling requirements. He is the lead inventor of the multi-stage connector compensation method delivering unrivalled channel performance in the industry. He remains personally involved in emerging high performance standards activities, such as 10GBASE-T.  Adriaenssens received a BSEE with high honors from Georgia Tech, an MSEE with highest honors from U.C. Berkeley and an MBA with honors from Purdue. He holds 27 US and foreign issued patents plus 5 patents pending in the fields of cable design, connector design and EMC.

Simon Cowley
Technical Director
SYSTIMAX ® Solutions NAR

Simon Cowley is the technical director for the North American Region (NAR) at SYSTIMAX SolutionsTM. In this role, Cowley is responsible for driving technical support for enterprise customers throughout the NAR. He also works directly with SYSTIMAX customers covered by the SYSTIMAX SCS 20-Year Extended Product Warranty and Applications Assurance to make sure they take advantage of the wide applications support that is offered. In addition, Cowley provides product and system technical support for the Enterprise Solutions sales team and customers.

Cowley has more than 20 years of experience in the cabling/interconnect industry having held several engineering, product management and engineering management positions with three leading connectivity manufacturers. He joined Commscope in 2001as the director of R&D for all of SYSTIMAX apparatus, leading the development of both copper and fiber technology supporting all SYSTIMAX structured connectivity solutions.

Cowley holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Bill Allen
Director of Product Management

As a director of product management, Bill Allen is responsible for strategic product positioning, roadmap planning and business case analysis for enterprise hardware products. Allen leads a diverse team of product managers focused on datacenter connectivity and remote management hardware technologies including KVM over IP, serial console managers, power management devices, and embedded service processor management.  He has more than 25 years of experience in technology. Prior to his current position, Allen was responsible for product definition and strategy for the OEM product line, working closing with major customers and account teams to position Avocent IT management products as the choice among major server vendors worldwide.  He joined Avocent in 2004 after serving in OEM product development, OEM sales, and electrical engineering positions at leading technology companies. Allen holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Ivan Passos
Director of Product Management

As a director of product management, Ivan Passos is responsible for defining future Avocent product offerings that will provide customers with top of the line management solutions. Those products will include the benefits generated by the integration of LANDesk and Avocent technologies. With more than 10 years of experience developing products in IT connectivity and remote administration, Passos is also responsible for market research and product management for the emerging area of embedded server and blade management through iLO, IPMI and other service processors. Prior to the 2006 acquisition of Cyclades Corporation by Avocent, Passos served at Cyclades as the Director of Research and Innovation. He joined Cyclades in 1995 as a Software Engineer in Research and Development and later moved to Product Marketing and global product management. Passos holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from San Jose State University in San Jose, California.

Roger Levy

Roger Levy serves as the General Manager & Vice President of the Open Platform Solutions business unit at Novell. He is responsible for the development for all products that make up Novell's open source and open platform technologies, including SUSE Linux and Open Enterprise Server. Mr. Levy is a member of Novell's Worldwide Management Committee.  Mr. Levy brings 27 years of experience with Lucent in the development and delivery of technology solutions for large enterprises. Most recently, he held the position of vice president, product realization, responsible for product delivery for four internal startups spanning the markets of routing, mobile applications, enterprise security and service provider network security. In addition, Mr. Levy held the position of vice president, software technology center, where he led Lucent's open source initiative, driving the establishment of an open source policy, creation of processes to leverage open source, and definition of open source acceptance tests. His other assignments included vice president of GSM product realization, where he led a 1,500 person team across seven countries. Mr. Levy holds a B.S in physics from Lafayette college and and M.S in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.

Kerry Kim

Kerry Kim works in Novell's Open Platforms Solutions product marketing group, and is responsible for the business unit's virtualization marketing strategy.  Mr. Kim joined Novell in 2006.  Prior to his current role with Novell, he held various product marketing and product management positions at computer hardware and software companies like Intel, Red Hat, and IBM.  Mr. Kim received his BS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, BA in Management Engineering from Claremont McKenna College, and MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Richard Doll serves as Director, Outbound Product Management. Mr. Doll works in Novell's OPS Business Unit, focused on Linux solutions. Mr. Doll joined Novell in 2006 with responsibilities for the Americas region.  Prior to his position with Novell, Mr. Doll held positions as General Manager and other senior management roles for companies in the broadcast industry, covering streaming, multimedia, professional post-production and broadcast automation systems.  Previously, Mr. Doll worked in Product Marketing and Product Management for several years.

Mr. Doll holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Fachhochschule Muenchen, Germany and a Masters International Relations from Suffolk University, Boston.

Carlos Montero-Luque

Carlos Montero- Luque is the Vice President of Product Management for the Open Platform Solutions Business Unit at Novell. Carlos' team is responsible for the Linux product and solution portfolio at Novell as well as the market goals and strategy for these solutons. Prior to this role, Carlos was CTO of the Identity Business Unit and Vice President of Engineering for the ZENworks product suite. Carlos joined Novell from the acquisition of Ximian, where Carlos had been VP of Engineering, developing products serving enterprise customers as well as over a million open source users. Prior to Ximian, Carlos was Inktomi Corp.'s head of East Coast engineering operations for the Network Products and Wireless Divisions after Inktomi's acquisition of WebSpective Software, where Carlos was VP of Engineering. Carlos has held a variety of positions in consulting and engineering at companies such as Cambridge Technology Partners, Open Environment Corporation (acquired by Borland) and the Open Software Foundation.

Carlos holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT and a Master's Degree in Government from Harvard Univers
