Akshaya Bhargava, Head of Global BPO Investments, 3i

Akshaya is an ex-banker, having spent 22 years with Citibank in a variety of senior positions in India, the Czech Republic and the UK. Until recently he was the CEO of Progeon, the second largest IT services company in India and the most profitable company in the Indian BPO industry. Progeon provides outsourcing for HR, customer service, finance and accounting, procurement, credit analysis. Under Akshaya's leadership, Progeon grew from a start-up, to a company with $86 million in revenues, over 7,000 employees and 22 Fortune 500 customers in less than four years. He has just been hired on at 3i to act as chief global advisor on the BPO and shared services industry, and to direct 3i investment in this growing industry. Akshaya's remit at 3i is two-fold: 1) use his experience from Progeon on the BPO supplier side to advise and direct 3i investment and, 2) act on the buy-side to leverage offshore BPO for 3i's portfolio companies. In this way, he effectively has one foot in each side of the BPO equation and is in a unique position to provide neutral comment on the BPO and shared services landscape.


Linda Tuck Chapman , SVP & Chief Sourcing Officer, Fifth Third Bank
As Senior Vice President and Chief Sourcing Officer, Tuck Chapman implemented and manages a world-class Bancorp “Centre of Excellence” for Strategic Sourcing, Sourcing Demand Management, and Offshoring and Sourcing Governance. She and her team oversee acquisition, management and regulatory compliance for approximately $1.5 billion annual spend. Tuck Chapman’s team is also responsible to provide leadership and expertise to non-bank acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, and partnerships, from strategy formulation to execution. Tuck Chapman leads a team of Sourcing professionals to provide expert advice regarding Sourcing strategies, processes and methodologies, including appropriate techniques to assess viability for (out) sourcing solutions, risk mitigation strategies, regulatory compliance, from determining the appropriate scope and structure, financial and non-financial negotiation strategies, improvements to operations and/or processes, value optimisation, to managing demand. This Sourcing Resource Centre develops and sustains subject matter expertise regarding acceptable 5/3 contract terms, applicable regulatory compliance requirements, Service Level Agreements, third party relationship measurements, metrics and reporting. The team ensures transition and implementation plans for new third party and outsourcing contracts are realistic and complete, with appropriate timelines and resources.


Michael F. Corbett

Michael F. Corbett is one of the best-known experts in the field of outsourcing and Chairman of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) – www.outsourcingprofessional.org. IAOP is the global, standard-setting organization and advocate for the outsourcing profession. Corbett is author of The Outsourcing Revolution: Why It Makes Sense and How to Do It Right, which John Sculley, former CEO Apple Computer, calls a “clear and compelling roadmap (that) leads the reader through the systemic reinvention of work.” Corbett speaks regularly on outsourcing as a management practice and on its impact on the global economy and global employment. In 1996, he was an expert witness on outsourcing at hearings called by President Bill Clinton and, in 2002, was invited to testify before the Office of Management and Budget’s Commercial Activities Panel tasked with redefining the Federal government’s outsourcing policies and practices. His deep experience as a business executive who contracted for these services as well as his leadership experience in establishing outsourcing practice for some of the world’s largest professional services companies; allow him to bring a unique perspective to consulting. His clients include Fortune 500 Financial Services companies, a multi-billion dollar IT services provider, a multi-billion dollar information services company, large utility, several small financial transaction service providers just entering the BPO marketplace and a software company specializing in tools for outsourcing. In this position, he managed a $200M budget with 50% of it spent on outsourcing to service providers globally.

Previously, Dalal was a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers responsible for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in the Technology and Communication industry group. At PwC, he was responsible for the largest BPO deal recorded to date- Nortel Networks outsourced its Human Resources and Procurement functions to PwC under a $630M (5 year) agreement. Dalal also led the “thought leadership” and marketing efforts at PwC in building the BPO brand. BPO practitioners and consultants quote his articles and thoughts extensively.

Dalal has held senior MIS leadership positions at Xerox, Unisys, Data General, Brookhaven National Laboratory and Teledyne. In 1994, as Vice President of Information Management at Xerox, Dalal created the strategy and led the team responsible for a $3.2B global outsourcing contract for EDS. The strategy and development of this major contract was documented and is now part of a Harvard Business School case study.

Marty is senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO) of Electronic Arts. He is responsible for providing technology solutions for EA’s gaming businesses worldwide. Previously, Marty was vice president and CIO at Agilent Technologies. Before joining Agilent Technologies, Marty was with the Hewlett-Packard Company in a variety of positions including business CIO for the Test and Measurement Organization. Chuck received a bachelor's degree in computer science from California State University, Chico, and attended the Executive Development Program at Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

John K. Halvey is a partner in the New York office of the international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP and the founder of the Strategic Sourcing and Technology Group. Mr. Halvey practices in all areas of technology and sourcing law, with particular emphasis on information technology and business process outsourcing and private equity transactions involving technology or sourcing companies. Mr. Halvey has represented companies in many of the largest technology, telecommunications and business process outsourcing transactions, including Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, BellSouth, Panasonic, Citigroup, DuPont, AT&T, Alcatel, Xerox, Boeing, Bombardier, General Atlantic and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Dan Henderson, Operations Executive & BPO/IT Services Advisor
Dan Henderson brings over twenty five years of executive experience in Financial Services, Business Process Outsourcing, Technology Services, finance & operations management. Prior to his current role as Advisor to several Private Equity firms, he was the CIO of Corporate Systems for JPMorganChase, the COO/CFO of Technology and Operations at Bank of America, the President of EDS' Business Process Outsourcing Business, and was the builder and General Manager of the $1.5 billion Global Business Services division of AlliedSignal/Honeywell. During this time, he also served as the Chairman of the Shared Services Executive Council of the Conference Board. Henderson has sat on both sides of the table, as both a provider and buyer of over $2.0 billion of global outsourcing contracts. Henderson received his degree in Economics from Davidson College, and an MBA from the Wharton School.

Amrita Joshi, Principal, Conscient Partners
Amrita Joshi brings over a decade of experience in International Operations, Financial Services, Management Consulting and Investment Banking. Prior to joining Conscient, Joshi served as President of EA CAP, a Malaysian-based IT services firm. EA CAP services ranged from ERP implementations to Hosting, specializing in Public Sector vertical. Prior to joining, EA CAP, Joshi was a Director at neoIT, a leading Offshore Advisory Firm. While at neoIT, Joshi was engaged in a variety of projects around technical support, application development, packaged application deployment, transaction processing and call center work. Before joining neoIT, Joshi was the VP of Global Sourcing at IndyMac Bank, a top 20 mortgage bank in the US. For two years, Joshi led the BPO offshoring initiative at IndyMac Bank, one of the pioneers of mortgage process offshoring. At IndyMac, she went through the entire BPO offshoring life cycle including process assessment, sourcing, transition and ongoing management. Joshi also was instrumental in launching the IT outsourcing initiative at IndyMac where she participated in the strategy, assessment and sourcing phase. Joshi began her career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) in the IT Process Consulting group focused on the financial services sector. After three years with Accenture, Joshi moved on to the Credit Suisse First Boston investment banking division on the west coast. Joshi received her MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA focusing on entrepreneurship and international studies. During her MBA, Joshi spent a semester abroad studying at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, India. Joshi received her B.A. in Business Economics with a specialization in Computer Science from UCLA.


Deborah Kops
is Head of Program Planning and Development, SharedXpertise and columnist for Global Services Magazine.  She is in charge of orchestrating programs directed to SharedXpertise and HROA members worldwide. Her broad perspective of business transformation and deep experience as a consultant, a provider and a buyer, gives her a unique insight into business transformation. Her mission at Shared Xpertise is to "build better clients" through program development and delivery. Kops has observed the global services industry as a buyer, seller and adviser.  Formerly a partner in two major professional services firms, managing director in two global banks and one of the founding executives in an early business process outsourcing provider, Kops has a unique perspective on an industry that she believes will flourish, often in spite of itself. Kops is also the author of 360 Degrees, a monthly column for Global Services magazine.


Pamela Leri Director, Global Partnerships Practice & Director, Consulting-India Aperian Global
Pamela Leri is responsible for Aperian Global's newly established Global Partnerships practice which focuses on the areas of outsourcing and collaboration. The Global Outsourcing services offers a blended approach to enhancing the effectiveness of outsourcing and off-shoring initiatives through the use of innovative web tools, consulting, facilitation, and training. She is responsible for the implementation and customization of Aperian Global’s Collaboration Toolkit solutions. Leri works closely with other Aperian Global practice leaders to develop strategic global approaches to diversity and inclusion, global teams and leadership. In her role, she spends more than half her working time in Asia, the majority in India. Prior to joining Aperian Global, Leri was Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Manager of Organization Development, Diversity and Intercultural Strategy for Mellon Financial Corporation. There she was responsible for providing diversity consultation and thought leadership to the Corporate Diversity Council and providing strategic direction for diversity and inclusion to Mellon as a whole. Leri's role required her to work closely with Mellon's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and members of executive and senior management. As Mellon engaged in significant off-shoring efforts, she used her knowledge of the Indian and Filipino cultures to advise lines of business on structuring knowledge transfer activities. She also developed an overall training strategy for people involved in the off-shoring efforts: individuals traveling to vendor companies, U.S.-based team members who were receiving vendor employees, and employees working on global virtual teams. Leri began her career working in Japan at an Osaka-based advertising agency, where she planned, developed and wrote culturally sensitive promotional materials. She lived in Japan for seven years and Southern Africa (South Africa and Zimbabwe) for one year, and has extensive short- and long-term travel and work experience in Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Mexico, and Canada.


Bernadette Margel, Managing Director, Head of Operations-Global Sourcing, Deutsche Bank AG
Dr. Bernadette Margel started her professional career at E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Company, where her supply-chain, product, marketing, and business management experiences in several different business lines included assignments in North America, Europe and Asia. She moved to PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 1998 as Global Partner in charge of their Procurement & Supply-Chain BPO business line. After several years with PwC and managing her own outsourcing consulting business, Dr. Margel joined Deutsche Bank in June 2004 as the Head of Operations for Global Sourcing. Dr. Margel holds several undergraduate and master’s degrees, as well as a Ph.D. in business management. She has lectured at INSEAD, the European Institute of Purchasing Management, the Outsourcing World Summit, SIG, and Management Center and Conference Board seminars in both the USA and Europe, and has received leadership awards from a number of US and European professional and industrial organizations.

Soumitra Rathod joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 2004, and spearheads their IT sourcing initiative. He has over 17 years of experience in the global IT space, and has lived and worked in India, Singapore, the United Kingdom and USA. Prior to joining The McGraw-Hill Companies, Mr. Rathod worked with Tier 1 and mid-tier IT organizations providing products and services using global delivery models. Mr. Rathod has undergraduate and graduate degrees in management from Bombay University.


Lisa M. Ross is the CEO and founder of FAO Research, Inc., the only independent research firm worldwide focused exclusively on the Finance &Accounting Outsourcing (FAO) market. She leads the firm's research andconsulting initiatives and works closely with buyers and suppliers of FAO services and with lawyers, consultants, investment analysts, journalists, trade associations and other industry influencers. Ross has been a leading analyst in the outsourcing industry for more than 10 years. She initially served as Worldwide Outsourcing Analyst for global market research firm IDC (International Data Corporation) in 1996. In 1999, she founded an outsourcing-specific market research, Ross Research, which focused exclusively on providing Finance & Accounting, Human Resources and Offshore Outsourcing market intelligence. In 2004, Ross sold Ross Research to one of the world's largest, global sourcing advisory firms, EquaTerra, and became its first Director of Research where she launched numerous initiatives. She founded finance & accounting outsourcing research firm FAO Research, Inc. in September 2005. Ross earned a Bachelor of Arts with concentrations in Sociology and French from Clark University and an MBA from Northeastern University. She lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts.


Manish Sahai, VP, Service Network Partners (SNP), Customer Service International (CSI), American Express. Manish has extensive re-engineering, globalization and outsourcing experience across Asia, Latin America, United Kingdom and United States. His role is to improve the relative cost and quality positions of all partners (vendors) supporting International Operations (CSI) at American Express. This includes consolidation, standardization and innovation of partner management across all functional areas. Prior experiences include re-engineering and globalization of finance transaction processes into three global financial centers. Further, he was instrumental in the dissolution of one of these finance centers to execute a two-center strategy. Manish was also involved with a global reengineering initiative that evaluated potential off-shoring and outsourcing demand for all American Express business units with a focus on leveraging China. Manish earned a Masters degree in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, India and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Illinois.

Michael Serghiou is a Senior Director at neoIT and a veteran IT and BPO professional. Ash Shehata is the Staff Vice President for Health Solutions IT, WellPoint Incorporated. He is the executive responsible for IT and enables Health Solutions for 14 health plans and specialty business units. The Shared Services Organization supports over 32 million health plan members (1 in 9 Americans). He is responsible for supporting the corporate chief medical officer, regional medical directors and strategic relationships with technology and application partners. The Health Solutions Enterprise unit supports Quality Management, Utilization Management, Case Management, Disease Management, Grievance and Appeals, Cost of Care, Clinical Data Management, Credentialing and Outcomes Research. Ash is also on several governance committees for the AHIP organization as well as the California RHIO organization.


Ranjan Sinha, Chairman and CEO, Summit HR
Sinha has founded and directed a number of service and technology companies and in the area of human resources, healthcare services, email and marketing services. Sinha co-founded Summit HR with the vision of helping CEOs and their teams win the war for talent. Summit HR is recognized as the Top HR Outsourcing company by International Association of Outsourcing Professionals, The Gartner Group and Fortune® magazine. Prior to starting Summit, Sinha was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Magnifi, Inc., a Cupertino based marketing supply chain automation ASP with proprietary technology and leading position in brand asset management. The company, which had obtained three key software patents on rich media indexing technology, was sold to Procter & Gamble. In 1995 Sinha served as the Co-Founder and President of WhoWhere? Inc., a Mountain View based Internet-based e-mail directory and e-mail outsource services company which was subsequently acquired by Lycos in 1998. Prior to founding Who Where?, Sinha was the President and CEO of Mindshare, Inc a Mountain View based HR services firm with marquee clients such as Charles Schwab, Sun Microsystems, Providian Technology. Sinha has also held positions of Director of Product Marketing at Lotus Corporation and Senior Product Line Manager at Apple Computer. Sinha was named as the “HR Outsourcing Superstar’ in 2006 and 2007 by HRO Today magazine for his contributions to the HR Industry. Sinha is frequent speaker on various industry panels on HR Services Outsourcing and has written numerous articles on Six Sigma applications in HR and Talent Supply Chain Management. Sinha serves on the board of Summit HR, Benefit Solutions Worldwide and Greenwich Capital Venture Corporation. Joseph E. Stiglitz is University Professor at Columbia University in New York and Chair of Columbia University's Committee on Global Thought. He also holds a part-time appointment at the University of Manchester as Chair of the Management Board and Director of Graduate Summer Programs at the Brooks World Poverty Institute. In 2001, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in economics for his analyses of markets with asymmetric information. Stiglitz was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers from 1993-95, during the Clinton administration, and served as CEA chairman from 1995-97. He then became Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President of the World Bank from 1997-2000. His book, Globalization and Its Discontents, was translated into 35 languages and has sold more than one million copies worldwide. His newest book, Making Globalization Work, was published by WW Norton in September, 2006.


Srinivas Tatavarthy serves as Vice President at Wachovia. In his current corporate position in the Institutional Risk Group, he is responsible for identifying, managing and communicating the associated risks in Wachovia’s offshore and outsourcing initiatives. He is also a member of Wachovia’s offshore and outsourcing governance council. Tatavarthy has more than 10 years in various offshore delivery, relationship management and risk management positions. His experience with both buyers and providers of offshore services gives him an advantage in understanding globalization and its inherent risks.

Tom Waller Head of Global Procurement & PMO: F&A Outsourcing Electronic Arts Inc.
Tom is the head of Electronic Arts Inc. global procurement and strategic sourcing operations with responsibilities extending to the project management office for EA’s finance and accounting outsourcing. He has been at EA for nearly 3 years delivering key CFO strategic initiatives, including the successful delivery of EA’s “Year One” Sarbanes-Oxley 404 and Finance and Accounting Outsourcing. Prior to that worked for Deloitte & Touche LLP for 13 years in a variety of consulting and accounting capacities. During his tenure at Deloitte, Tom was the Director for Deloitte’s Thailand Enterprise Risk Services practice. In this capacity he was responsible for the delivery and execution of Internal Audit, Computer Assurance and Security Services to clients in Thailand. Prior to that Tom provided asset management and licensing consulting services to medium to large enterprises in North, South & Central America, North and South-East Asia and the Pacific Rim Region. He was Deloitte’s lead manager responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of Deloitte’s worldwide consulting service to Microsoft Corporation in respect of their non-OEM licensing agreements. He is a Chartered Accountant (Australia) and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Tom holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney, Australia.


Rusty Weston is Editor in Chief of Global Services Magazine, a publication focused on the worldwide sourcing of business and technology services. The magazine and website launched in February 2006 with the Global Services 100, a unique study that identifies and ranks the leading global services providers on the basis of innovation and accomplishment. Global Services is the product of a joint venture encompassing the strengths of industry leaders CMP Media and CyberMedia. Reflective of today's collaborative services environment, Global Services’ editorial and production teams are located in the U.S. and India. Weston’s 22 year editorial experience includes eight years at InformationWeek magazine directing research. For three years Weston lead InformationWeek.com, which under his direction received the Jesse Neal Award, one of the nation's most prestigious journalism honors. In 2004 he founded Managing Offshore, a newsletter for global sourcing managers and global project leaders. Paul Zellner, Partner, Russell Reynolds Associates
Paul Zellner focuses on senior executive assignments for a wide range of management consulting, software services and outsourcing companies. Based in Chicago, Zellner co-leads the firm’s Business and Professional Services Practice and has completed numerous CEO, partner and practice leader level assignments for business and professional services process outsourcing firms. Zellner has more than 20 years of executive recruiting experience and joined Russell Reynolds Associates in 1999. Before his career in executive search, Zellner was Controller of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and Region Operations Manager for American Hospital Supply Company. Zellner began his career at Price Waterhouse & Co. Zeller received his B.B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago and his M.M. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. Zellner is a Certified Public Accountant.
